Black Locust 3-corner box

$175.00

Turned from Black Locust crotchwood and American Chestnut root burl, carved and scorched. Interestingly, the Chestnut is native to Michigan and Black Locust is unfortunately considered to be a timber that is an invasive species in Michigan. The Black Locust comes from the northern lower portion of Michigan. The American Chestnut root burl was dug up on an old farm in southern Michigan where a Chestnut grove grew over a century ago, before the blight all but wiped them out. I was introduced to a small chunk of it a few years back. Quite a lucky find!

The box measures 3” x 3” x 4.75”.
